Introduction Thread

Postby NickMeyer » 23 Oct 2007 01:02

I thought a neat little topic like this might lower the overall on-edge feeling associated with such controversial discussions that do tend to take place here. I figure you can put down whatever you like but I'll give a little template incase you all don't quite know what you'd like to say about yourselves.

What Is Your Name?
Where Do You Live?
Why Are You Here?
What Are Your Hobbies and Interests?
Do You Have A Pet(s)?(If So What Is Their Name and What Kind oF Pet Are They?)
Do You Have A Favorite Food(s)?
What Is Your Favorite Movie(s)?

Keep in mind all of this is completely optional. :)

I'll start off.

Hi,

My name is Nick.
I live in sunny not-so-sunny at the moment, Northern California in the United States.
I'm on here to get answers for some of the questions I have and to help aswer other people's questions and to just have a good converstation about what it means to be human.
My hobbies are but not limited to, Drawing, Illustration, Graphic Design, Video Editing, Video Games, Movies and Music.
I have a pet, well two actually, one is a male dog named Morgan and the other is a male cat named Jack.
My favorite food would be Ramen.
My favorite movie is Fight Club.

There see, nothing to it. Now you guys try!

Great idea Nick! I’ll join you…

Q: What Is Your Name?
A:
My name is Kitty (and yes, that is actually my name) :P

Q: Where Do You Live?
A:
I live out in the country/forest in Sweden

Q: Why Are You Here?
A:
Came across FeralChildren.com some 6 years ago(??) Read every word written on it and also most of the stuff that was linked from FC. Kept coming back to the site and finally decided to get in touch with Andrew Ward and ask, if he perhaps was interested in “my story”… To sum it up… I “moved in” and in some strange way, it has given me a sense of belonging.

Why have I stayed? Well, apart from the feeling of belonging, I feel that I owe it to those that still are isolated/confined or feral, to perhaps be able to give some personal insight as to what goes on in our heads, how we feel and what might work best in trying to get through to us… I dunno :?:

Q: What Are Your Hobbies and Interests?
A:
That would be my canine and feline family. I also love the forest around here but not so much right now, since it’s crawling with hunters due to it being hunting season. I don’t hunt and even though I do eat meat and have every possibility to go out there and shoot whatever, I prefer someone else killing it and I’ll buy it from the store or a local hunter/farmer. Not saying that I can’t do it, as I have in the past. I just don’t like it. If an animal is hurt beyond fixing, I’ll do what is necessary but other than that, I’d rather try to heal it instead.

More interests would be my computer. I spend a lot of time online keeping in touch with my cyber friends. I do a lot of writing and also read the occasional book.

Q: Do You Have A Pet(s)?(If So What Is Their Name and What Kind of Pet Are They?)
A:
Yup… 3 Full-grown Great Pyrenees Mountain Dogs. One male “Tino” and 2 females “Celine” and “Blue”. Blue has 8 three week old puppies right now, 5 males and 3 females. I also have 10 cats. 6 in-door British Shorthair cats, females: Bibbi, Bella, Tingeling, Lill-Fjutt and 1 male “Brage”. Out-door/in-door mousers: Isa (female) Lill-Sass, Ulvar, Salem & Nisse (Tom’s)

This past summer, I’ve also found homes for and placed 7 nine month old Rottweiler’s, and 2 Great Pyrenees, fostered/hand fed 4 newborn abandoned feral kittens for a shelter/pet adoption center not far from here and also (for almost 3 months) taken care of a breeder friend of mines 6 full-grown Great Pyrenees, apart from my own 3… Yep, my house/property has been crowded this summer and even if it’s been fun at times, I’m very happy it’s just me and my “regular” family again…

Q: Do You Have A Favorite Food(s)?
A:
No, not really… It depends on what mood I’m in. Right now I wouldn’t mind some sort of chicken, curry and rice dish…

Q: What Is Your Favorite Movie(s)?
A:
Also depends on what mood I’m in. Easier to say what type of movies I don’t like. I hate dramas, war movies & reality shows… Love documentaries, such as nature, history, paranormal and veterinary. I’m crazy about Sci-fi and horror movies. Shephen King & Dean R Koontz have minds that are nearly as warped as my own. Much prefer to read their books before I watch the movies, as I like to see how they manage to bring their stories to “life”. Must say that so far, my imagination has been much better than their movies… LOL

Well, this was a little bit about me.

Hi Nick, Kitty, & Everyone on F.C.!

Nice to meet you! Hope everyone is well this November.

I'm Donna, I'm also here in Northern California, but I'm orignially from beautiful Hawaii (miss it like crazy!). Migrated here after college as there aren't too may engineering jobs in Hawaii (my hubby's occupation).

Found this wonderfully done website after viewing the Wild Child Program on TLC, I wanted to get further information on Genie. Her story was just so heartbreaking, I couldn't sleep for days after watching it. I still think of her daily and am sure I always will.

I have 2 children who are autisitic, a girl and a boy. Life can be a bit crazy at times because of this, but I think me and my hubby are a good team in handling this. It's kind of interesting because I know Genie is not autistic, but some of her behaviors and her lack of speech remind me of someone who is (maybe that's another reason I always think of her).

I love music, cooking and running. We have a Ragdoll cat, her name is Pikake (Hawaiian for Jasmine). Love movies, but don't really watch too many anymore for some reason (comedies mainly, don't usually like dramas as well as I think my life is dramatic enough with the whole autism thing going on -LOL!). I'm a big fan of the Heroes tv series, also like Lost, Ugly Betty, My Name is Earl.

Take care everybody!

Donna

Hi, not sure how to do this differently--:)
My name is Sharon
I'm a mom of grown (21 year old)daughter
I live in mid-Willamette Valley, Oregon
I have always been interested in how to invite people into "belonging" (who wish to, of course),
by means of good cooking, great music, good conversation, basic decency, affectionate animals, etc.,

I have worked on good health through organic food and other practices, not obsessively
though;
read lots, travel, do farm work, do volunteer work such as soup kitchens and taking care
of a food co-op's recycling, etc., help political candidates who are totally unknown, sing world gospel
whenever possible, learn new sports and games, and walk through that horrible labyrinth of
difficult family relations--
Favorite movie, "Chariots of Fire"--favorite music, vintage movie soundtracks (Shaft, Bluesbrothers, Throughly Modern Millie, etc.)
Did I miss anything?

Hello people!

Its been a while since I last visited Feral Children forum... maybe this forum is not the same one?

The reason why I joined this forum is because I'm very interested in what makes us humans 'tick' :)

So anyway, I think we humans are naturally social and therefore moral animals, but unfortunately, too many of us have been conditioned to be (and believe) that we humans are innately evil

Look forward to having some good/interesting chats with you guys :)

What Is Your Name? Hello, My name is Nancy.
Where Do You Live? I live in Uxbridge, MA. USA.
Why Are You Here? I'm here because I am (I do not mean any disrespect to anyone) infatuated with the stories of Feral children and how the mind works. Also disgusted as to how adult humans act the way that they do.
What Are Your Hobbies and Interests? I ride horses, I do Yoga, I can my own jellies from wild fruits, and also apple and spaghetti sauce. I have three sons, 15, 16 and 19 whom I adore. I work at the corporate office of the largest office supply chain and love my job.
Do You Have A Pet(s)?(If So What Is Their Name and What Kind oF Pet Are They?) I have three dogs, two Chihuahua mixes, Pooh Bear and Spike, One Border Collie, Jenna, two cats, Precious and Minew and I recently adopted out two rats, Rocky and Frank. Rats are VERY cuddly and intelligent animals. I miss Rocky dearly...
Do You Have A Favorite Food(s)? FRUIT, FRUIT AND FRUIT.
[color=#BF80FF]What Is Your Favorite Movie(s)?
Dances with Wolves, The Last Emperor.
