The Majola Family
Isolated for 20 years
These four children, aged 14, 16, 18 and 22, had been living in isolated conditions with their parents for 20 years (in the shack in the picture). Having had no social contact with anyone else during that period, the children can't speak, and one is described as walking on all fours.
Sign language
The Majola family members do communicate, using sign language accompanied by grunts. As is often the case with feral children, it isn't clear whether the children's mental condition is due to difficulties present since birth, or has been acquired during their somewhat unusual upbringing.
